OCR: Rappaport described the ritual life of the Tsembaga, who lived only a few miles from the Bomagai-Angoiang and spoke the same Maring language. Rappaport argued in his book that Tsembaga ritual, rather than being wholly concerned with immaterial aspects of life, played an important role in the people's relation with their environment. Among other functions, Tsembaga ritual may have helped to regulate relationships between people, pigs, and gardens and may have acted to conserve marsupial fauna.
